Nexus 5 and Android KitKat Features Making Them Better than Apple

Android KitKat To Beat iOS 7?

Google has quietly introduced new versions of its two key products - Nexus 5, and a new version of the Android operating system - KitKat. In case of Nexus 5 there were no surprises: most of the leaks confirmed. Nexus 5 is a 5-inch smartphone with impressive specs. On the contrary, in case of KitKat bloggers guessed only the name of the OS. At first glance the new OS is not much different from the previous one, but in fact there are some revolutionary changes.

Productivity and "democracy "

The traditional way of product development for IT- giants of the world has always been the following: gadgets are becoming more powerful, and the requirements of operating systems for them more severe. Until KitKat it was true for Google: the new version of Android couldn't be installed on the smartphone which was released two or three years ago. Now KitKat can be easily placed on any smartphone with 512 MB of RAM. Compare it with Apple, which does not allow to install it new iOS 7 on older phones. Google solved the key problem of the platform - its "fragmentation." Since the world has too many smartphones working on Android, and only a third of them are using the newest version of it (so far it was 4.3 version) , it was difficult for developers to create applications that work equally well on all devices running Android.

Attractive price

Nexus 5 costs $349 in the U.S. for the version with 16 GB of memory. For the money you receive an advanced device with a 5-inch screen (resolution- 1920 x 1080 pixels, IPS- matrix), a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with 2.3 GHz, 2 GB RAM module, high-speed LTE- networks and a battery capacity of 2300 mA*h In addition, the new Nexus 5 will support NFC technology for contactless payments and Qi wireless charging standard. The gadget has a 1.3-megapixel front and 8-megapixel main camera. The combination of all these factors makes the Nexus 5 actually no alternative device for millions of people. For comparison, the cheapest version of the new iPhone 5S will cost $649, Samsung Galaxy S4 - $650, Nokia Lumia 1020 - 700 euros. With its line of Nexus devices Google actually states that the prices of most popular gadgets in the world are artificially inflated.

Unification

All the features of the new Android from Google undergone unification. Google Now is now able to interact with the installed applications, and the contact list application has received Google Maps integration.

Android is now really seems to be a "solid" product, rather than a set of disparate applications that do not interact with each other. Smartphones based on the Google platform got what iPhones has long been boasting of - a sense of wholeness and completeness of the product. This unification is really praised by mobile app developers as well.

Great design

Unlike Apple, Google has decided not to redesign radically its operating system, and it has gone through evolution. But while the iOS 7 appearance wasn't accepted by everyone, the new Android version should be assessed as a nice system by the majority. The interface is now even easier and clearer. Status and notification bar is now translucent and disappears completely when running full screen applications. The screen is "cleaner". Google has also redesigned the main Roboto font, which is perceived by all testers as "excellent."
